FOAMCREST 12 - #B 75
A light, single-chine V-bottom plywood frameless dinghy, built upside down on formers. Length 12 ft., beam 5 ft., weight according to rig but about 120 lbs. The boat can be completed as an open craft or fitted with side and foredecks. Details of three alternative rigs are given. Simplest is a balanced lug, with spars shorter than the boat and minimum fittings capable of a reasonable performance and particularly suitable for beginners. Next is a gunter sloop of 66 sq. ft. similar to that shown on the Curlew, but larger. For the enthusiast there is the Bermudian sloop rig of 80 sq. ft. The Foamcrest has a rudder with a lifting blade, a pivoted centerboard and a stiffened bottom without bottom boards.
