|No welding is needed to assemble this craft. The few metal parts are fastened by bolting. The primary engine mounts are wood and are built into the hull, thus cutting down the cost and man hours to build. The hull is simple to build with the 7 ribs made from #2 pine and 1/8 plywood covering. Hull bottom shape improves lift system efficiency, prevents water being kicked up into lift duct during operation of cushion, and protects the floor from damage due to landing on rocks, etc. A 26 inch lift duct also improves lift. An optional foam inlet lip on the lift duct will make further improvements.
The wide cockpit easily seats 2-3 persons side by side and permits better lateral trim by moving people. It may also be possible to use larger thrust engines and moving seat forward about 6" to compensate for the extra weight in back. As of this printing, only 5 HP Briggs Lift Engine and 10 HP Tecumseh Thrust Engines have been tried.
