JECKLE 9 - #216
The Jeckle's stunning design provide an opportunity for anyone interested in a mini speedboat project.

Speeds into the 30s are feasible and special care has been taken in planning the construction strong enough to stand up to rigorous use. A builder should be able to complete one of these hulls in marine plywood in approximately 60 hours depending on ability.

Outboards may have their following, and rightly so. However, inboards have achieved great success on the Mini Hydro racing circuits due to better placement of motor, low in the boat, allowing driver to distribute body weight for better stability when cornering or maneuvering.

Inboards are also popular because plenty of bike engines, 1 or 2 cyl, 250 cc lightweights, can be purchased new or secondhand and at reasonable cost. Suitable units include the high revs/low torque motors 2 cyl, 2 stroke, 250 cc such as Suzuki and Yamaha.
