STAR OF THE SOUTH 37 - #213 |
STEEL TRAWLER/YACHT
Those who are passionately attracted to the salty looking trawler type of cruisers may not always find these boats to be within their financial reach. The new Star of the South 37 ft. trawler cruiser shown here is a do it yourself design for steel construction which will certainly be a lot more affordable than the imported southeast Asian trawlers of similar size. Only 8.9 tons of uncut steel are required including flat bar frames for simplicity of construction. Hull plating is 4 mm. The plans have been designed to meet Maritime Board USL Code conditions of survey and the boat is of a size that could well suit drive yourself hire or charter hiring. Anyone with the ability to use an electric arc welder should have no trouble being able to build this boat. The general arrangement shows five permanent berths which may be increased to a total of eight by adding pilot berths forward and converting the dinette to a single berth. The U shaped galley is equipped with stove, sink and refrigerator. There is a lower steering station also in the same area as the galley and the saloon as well as the main steering station up on the flybridge. The engine compartment is well insulated against noise and is roomy enough to accommodate fuel and water tanks as well as a six kw generator. The forecabin has two vee berths and includes a separate toilet and wash basin. Lines and Table of Offsets are provided in lieu of full-size patterns (FSP). FSP are available, please contact us for pricing. Plans with Lines and Table of Offsets. |
