WEE LASSIE CEDAR STRIP 10.5 - #FC 10 |
FEATHER WEIGHT STRIPPER CANOE 11 SIMPLE WOODSTRIP CONSTRUCTION -- The cedar strip method of building is basically simple. Using the full-size patterns, cut the temporary station molds from OSB board or plywood. Edge glue narrow cedar strips (bead and cove edges) over the station molds. Then fiberglass inside and out using epoxy resin. The result, a strong lightweight monocoque hull. Sand the epoxy, varnish and the cloth is transparent revealing a beautiful clear finished boat you will be proud of.
Price includes the book "Featherweight Boatbuilding" as the instruction manual. Full-size patterns without the book are $39. Inquire by email for this option. The digital version excludes the book but includes the full-size patterns. |
The light weight of the Wee Lassie makes her easy to carry, easy to car top, easy to portage. Her small size lets her go in places where a big canoe would be awkward. The use of a double paddle enables her to go upstream in extremely shallow water. Conditions like this severely restrict anything with a motor on it, but are just right for a ten foot six, twenty pound canoe that only takes a couple of inches to float in. Wee Lassie's sleek shape also makes her easy to paddle against the wind or across the wind. |
