HORNBLOWER 22 - #B 84 |
A sailing cruiser, of double-chine plywood construction, but with four bunks in two cabins, roomy toilet and galley, self-draining cockpit and outboard motor mounted in a well. The rig is a masthead Bermudan sloop. Length 22 ft., beam 7 ft. 8 in., draft about 2 ft. 9 in. Normal sail area 200 sq. ft. Motor 6-10 H.P. There are two steel bilge keels and a central cast iron block. Total weight about 24 cwt. The hull is built upside-down on frames. None of the building work calls for special equipment or exceptional skill. A large number of drawings are provided. Materials have been schemed as economically as possible and this boat should prove cheaper to build than most others of its size. |
